Jindřich Halabala was a Czech furniture designer, theorist, publicist and educator. He primarily became famous for his designs of stylish furniture for the Brno UP factories from 1925 to 1955, where he worked as the chief designer. Thanks to this position, he fundamentally influenced the appearance of inter-war and post-war Czech households.

Michael Thonet was a German entrepreneur, cabinetmaker, inventor and furniture designer. Originally from Boppard in the Rhineland, he settled in Moravia where he founded factories for bentwood furniture in Koryčany (1856) and in Bystřice pod Hostýnem (1861).

Kohn later became one of the leading furniture manufacturers in Austria-Hungary and became one of the main competitors of Gebrüder Thonet.
